Tens of thousands demonstrate after Hungarian pedophile scandal
Tens of thousands of Hungarians demonstrated on Friday in Budapest in protest against the pedophile scandal that has become the biggest domestic political scandal during Viktor Orbán's years in power, writes AFP.
The country's president, Katalin Novák, resigned this weekend amid the scandal, which is based on her pardoning a man convicted of involvement in a pedophile ring. Since then, several other leading politicians have resigned.
- The Hungarian state has collapsed. There are no transparent, comprehensive and independent investigations to demand responsibility, says one of the organizers of the demonstration, Edina Pottyondy, in a speech.

The NATO process|Sweden's application
Hungary on US delegation: Don't try to influence us Hungarian politicians are not impressed by US plans to send a group of senators to attend the opening of parliament tomorrow, Expressen reports.
The idea is that the senators will, among other things, "put pressure" on Hungary to accept Sweden's NATO application.
- I would not recommend that they come here to tell us what decisions would be good to make, says Hungarian Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó during a press conference.
Instead, he believes that Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson (M) must fulfill his promise to visit Hungary and meet Prime Minister Viktor Orbán.
- If he could visit Turkey during the ratification process, I think he can visit us too, says Péter Szijjártó.
