War weariness in Israel - fewer and fewer want to fight
War fatigue is spreading in Israel, the Washington Post reports. The number of people enlisting has dropped by 15 percent since the period after the attack on October 7 last year, according to the IDF. More and more people also neglect to show up when they have been summoned.
- Previously, I balanced my tech career with family life. Now I have to factor in the fact that I disappear for weeks or months at a time, says reservist Ari Krauss, who spent four months in Gaza and will soon return.
The large proportion of the workforce that is tied up in the military also has an economic impact. Small businesses are closing down, startups are losing capital and successful companies are considering leaving the country. Last year, growth fell by two percent, and this year it is expected to fall another 1.5 percent.

Israel imposes sanctions on major national newspaper
The Israeli government has imposed sanctions on Haaretz, the country's oldest and third most widely read newspaper.
All state-funded actors are prohibited from talking to or advertising in the newspaper. The background is "articles that damaged the legitimacy of the state of Israel and the right to self-defense", according to the government.
In particular, they point to statements that the responsible publisher Amos Schocken made during a conference in London last month.
Schocken accused the government of apartheid policies and called Palestinians "freedom fighters". After heavy criticism, he clarified that he was not referring to Hamas or other terrorists.
Haaretz has a left-liberal orientation and during the Gaza war has directed regular, hard-hitting criticism of Netanyahu's government.
The newspaper calls the sanctions "another step in Netanyahu's dismantling of Israeli democracy".

The gap in the Democrats widens after the ICC's decision
The ICC's arrest warrant against Benjamin Netanyahu has increased the division between the pro-Israel and anti-Israel phalanxes of the Democrats in the United States, The Hill reports.
Several members praised the decision. Pramila Jayapal of Washington calls it an important step towards claiming responsibility for "the killing of a reprehensible number of Palestinians".
Others are instead critical of the court.
- Israel is fighting an existential war, and I think the ICC arrest warrants are misguided and wrong, says Illinois member Brad Schneider.

250 Hezbollah rockets at Israel on Sunday
Hezbollah fired about 250 rockets and other projectiles at Israel on Sunday, the largest salvo in weeks, AP reports.
Seven people were injured. Some rockets reached as far as Tel Aviv. The salvo was in retaliation for recent Israeli attacks, including an airstrike on an eight-story building in Beirut on Saturday that Lebanese authorities said killed 29 people.
During the day, one soldier in the Lebanese army was also killed, and 18 wounded, in an Israeli attack between Tire and Naquoura in the south-west of the country.
The IDF expressed regret, citing that the army base is located in an area where it is fighting Hezbollah.
