Israel has boarded the last ship in the Gaza convoy
All 42 ships in the Gaza convoy have now been stopped. On Friday morning, Israeli soldiers boarded the only remaining ship, the Polish-flagged Marinette.
“But this is not the end of our mission. Our determination to confront Israel’s atrocities and stand by the Palestinian people is unwavering,” writes Global Sumud Flotilla on Instagram.
Earlier on Friday, the Israeli prison authority stated that over 200 people deprived of their liberty from the ships are in a prison awaiting the conclusion of a legal process, writes Haaretz.
13 Swedes from the convoy to Israel’s desert prison
13 Swedish citizens have been taken to the Israeli Ketziot prison in the Negev Desert, Global Sumud Flotilla told Expressen’s reporter on site in Israel.
They were reportedly detained by Israeli police after participating in the organization's convoy of boats carrying emergency aid to Gaza.
- We are awaiting the lawyers' report, but we are deeply disappointed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs' passivity. The information we receive about the participants' well-being does not come from Swedish authorities, but from other countries' delegations and authorities. Swedish citizens deserve better support than this, says Anna Fransson, spokesperson for the Global Movement to Gaza to SvD.
In total, around 45 boats in the convoy to Gaza have been boarded by the Israeli military (IDF), who have detained over 400 people during the operation, reports TT.
They have since been taken ashore to the Israeli port city of Ashdod. A number have been taken to Ketziot Prison pending the conclusion of a legal process, writes Haaretz.
