NATO's future
US to reduce number of troops in Eastern Europe

The US will reduce the number of soldiers it has deployed on NATO's eastern flank, reports AFP.

According to NATO, the alliance was already informed of the decision. The US measure is described as an "adjustment".

"Even with this adjustment, the US military presence in Europe remains larger than it has been in many years, with significantly more US forces on the continent than before 2022", states a NATO official.

Poland's defense minister says at a press conference that he has not received information that the number of troops deployed in Poland may be reduced, reports Reuters.

The future of the Republicans

Trump: Pretty clear that I will not be allowed to run in 2028

Last night, Donald Trump seemed to admit that he cannot run in the 2028 presidential election for a third term after he previously refused to close that door, writes ABC News.

Trump would certainly "love" to run again. But if you read the Constitution, it is “pretty clear” that a third term is not allowed, the president tells reporters aboard Air Force One.

– I am not allowed to run. It is a shame. But we have a lot of good people, he says.

Earlier in his term, Trump has hinted several times that he may run for a third term, perhaps most clearly illustrated by the caps with the message “Trump 2028”.

Johnson: There is no way for a third term

The Republican Speaker of the House Mike Johnson “sees no way” that would mean that Donald Trump can remain as president for a third term. Johnson points out that it would be in violation of the US Constitution and says that Trump is aware of it.

– We have talked about the limitations of the Constitution.

The president has hinted several times, most recently this week, that he wants to serve a third term.
