US envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner have visited Moscow several times, but not Kiev.

The reason? Witkoff reportedly finds it inconvenient to take the train.

Since Russia's full-scale invasion in 2022, Ukrainian airspace has been closed, meaning that trains are the only option to get to Kiev.

- They have problems with having to take the train. It's difficult for Witkoff, a source with insight tells The Kyiv Independent.

Negotiations between the US, Russia and Ukraine have been on hold for over two months while the US has been busy with the war in Iran. Previously, both Witkoff and Kushner have visited Moscow for talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

“They have promised (to visit Kiev) many times but so far have not done it even once,” says a frustrated government source.
