Swedish interest rates
Economists want to lower the interest rate four times: "Normalized"
The Riksbank is expected to lower the interest rate by 25 points to 3.5 percent on Tuesday. After that, the interest rate should also be lowered in September, November and December so that it is 2.75 percent at the end of the year. This is the opinion of several economists that Dagens Industri spoke to before this week's decision.
Robert Bergqvist at SEB then urges the board to continue during the first half of 2025, so that the interest rate lands at 2 percent at the beginning of next summer.
- I want to send the message that the interest rate will be normalized and lowered, and quickly, he tells the newspaper.

Economist warns debt-ridden vacationers: "Pay on time"
Every twelfth family with children has taken out a blank loan to finance trips, according to a survey carried out on behalf of Länsförsäkringar earlier this year.
- We think it has to do with the fact that the money is not enough to maintain the things you used to do, says private economist Stefan Westerberg to DI.
Before the fall, he now urges those who borrowed for the summer holidays to pay on time to avoid extra interest costs.

Water bill to cool data centers in Virginia runs rampant
The state of Virginia has the highest concentration of data centers in the entire world. Now there is concern about the facilities' avalanche-like increase in water consumption, writes the Financial Times.
In what has become known as the "data center corridor", consumption increased by over 60 percent between 2019 and 2023. Last year, 7 billion liters of water were used to cool the server halls, which are getting hotter due to the AI boom. In total, data centers in the US used 280 billion liters of water during the same period – the equivalent of all of London's consumption over four months
