Far-right profiles turn against the Trump campaign
Several important allies of Donald Trump within the American extreme right have begun to question his campaign in social media, writes the Washington Post.
"You're losing the support of people who believed in you... you need those people," writes Candace Owens, a far-right profiler with over five million followers on X.
Trump sought support from the far right before the elections in 2016 and 2020. Now many heavy names in the movement believe that Trump's campaign is trying to persuade him to tone down his rhetoric.
White power profiler Nick Fuentes, who dined with Trump at his club Mar-a-lago in 2022, writes that Trump's campaign is "headed for a catastrophic loss" if it does not veer to the right.

Voters Turn to Astrology: 'Predicted Harris'
More than half of Americans think astrology makes them safe, writes USA Today. Now more and more voters are also turning to the stars to understand what is going on in the US presidential election.
Astrologer Cathrine Urban says she "with certainty" predicted that Kamala Harris' role in politics would continue to grow after she became vice president. But she admits that many non-astrologers could probably make the same prediction.
- You know, once you've become vice president, what's the next step from there?
58 percent of the astrologically interested voters state that they turn to astrology "primarily as entertainment", according to USA Today.

Left-wing Democrats make lower demands on Harris
The Democrats' left phalanx seems to have downplayed their hopes for the party's presidential candidate, compared to the 2020 election. NBC News reports.
Then they demanded, among other things, universal healthcare and a "new green deal". Now they seem to settle for a higher minimum wage.
- I don't think perfection ever stands up in an election. But real progress does, said Pramila Jayapal, a congresswoman and leader of the Congressional Progressive Caucus, a group of Democratic progressive members of Congress.
According to NBC News, there are signs that the Democrats' left phalanx, which has been successful for a long time, is losing momentum.

Huge protests planned: "Full speed ahead"
More than 200 groups and organizations are expected to participate in protests directed at the Democratic National Convention in Chicago this week, reports Politico.
Many friends of Palestine have been deeply critical of Joe Biden's presidency - which they believe is funding Israeli attacks on civilians in Gaza.
Speculation that Kamala Harris might take a harder line against Israel if she becomes president has also not given the protesters cold feet.
- We came to the conclusion that it will make no difference. She is part of this administration. We are moving full speed ahead, says Hatem Abudayyeh, head of the U.S. Palestinian Community Network, which coordinates protests against the convention.
