Senegal summons Ukrainian ambassador: "Propaganda"

Senegal's foreign ministry has summoned Ukraine's ambassador to Dakar to protest after a video posted online, according to AFP.

On the Ukrainian embassy's Facebook page, a clip was allegedly posted in which the ambassador praised the Tuareg rebels' attacks on government forces and Russian Wagner soldiers in Mali.

"As a constructively neutral party in the Russian-Ukrainian conflict, Senegal cannot allow any attempts to transfer the ongoing media propaganda to its territory," writes the Senegalese Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The rebels in Mali claim to have killed 84 Wagner soldiers. The Ukrainian intelligence service GUR states that it provided the rebels with "necessary information" before the attack.

The Wagner group has admitted that it suffered losses in Mali.

Ukrainian special forces have trained Tuareg rebels in Mali militarily, particularly in drone warfare. This is stated by several sources, including a Tuareg commander, for French Le Monde.

The al-Qaeda-linked rebels are fighting government forces, who have hired Russian mercenaries from the Wagner group, in northern Mali.

The rebels claimed earlier this week that they had killed 84 Wagner soldiers. The Ukrainian intelligence service GUR states that it provided the rebels with "necessary information, and other things" before the attack.
