CHICAGO. It was a tearful farewell for Joe Biden.
The president passed the torch to Kamala Harris in an emotional speech at the caucus last night - and launched a scathing attack on Trump.
- Who the hell does he think he is?
Quick version
But despite the bittersweet ending, Biden was received as a hero when he stepped out at the Democratic Party convention, receiving a four-minute standing ovation from the crowd.
He was introduced by his daughter, Ashley Biden, and was visibly moved by the moment as he wiped away tears with a handkerchief in front of the cheering crowd.
- We love Joe! We love Joe! We love Joe! shouted the whole arena in chorus.
In his emotional speech, Biden also aimed a boot at Donald Trump, among other things because he did not want to visit the burial site of American war heroes.
- Who the hell does he think he is, Biden said to cheers from the crowd.
Bragged about Sweden
He also highlighted his and Kamala Harris successes during their reign. Among other things, he highlights that they have been involved in supporting Sweden and Finland's entry into NATO.Prachitha Porika, 24, from Georgia is among those in the audience, and she welcomes the generational change as Biden passes the baton to Kamala Harris.
- There is definitely a change in "vibe" and energy with Kamala Harris as our candidate. Especially for young voters, she says, and continues.
- Here is the raw truth: Many of our generation were not happy that Joe Biden was nominated. Many were angry, rightfully so, and still are. Now there is much more hope and optimism.

The Democrats lined up their biggest stars on stage as they kicked off their national convention. Former Secretary of State Hilary Clinton, leftist favorite Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez had the stands rumbling with applause.
Four people were arrested
Only a couple of hours before Biden's speech, about a hundred protesters managed to break through the first security barrier, and clashed with riot police. Four people were arrested in front of Aftonbladet's team on the spot.
That didn't dampen the party inside the arena.
This week's headliner – Kamala Harris – also made a surprise appearance, bringing the arena to a boil when she stepped out onto the stage.
Dancing in the stands was Andrew Ashiofu, 41, of Washington, who wore a flashing cowboy hat. He danced and howled during the speeches of the heavyweights, as if it were his birthday.
- I like both of them, but something completely unique happened when Harris announced that she was running. The enthusiasm is fantastic, he says.

- He realized that the election is bigger than him, it is a battle for the soul of our nation. I hope more politicians see that young people are ready to take over as leaders.
- All this talk about me being mad at everyone who said I should step aside - that's not true, he said, adding:
- I love my country more, and we must preserve our democracy.
