USA: Russia paid millions for election influence
The Biden administration has on Wednesday evening announced a series of measures against Russian state media companies accused of trying to influence this fall's US presidential election. This is reported by several American media.
The American Minister of Justice, Merrick Garland, among other things, singles out the company RT for having paid close to ten million dollars to spread misinformation to American voters on social media.
Charges have been brought against two editors-in-chief of the Russian media company and a total of 32 internet domains have been seized. In addition, the company and the editors have been charged with sanctions.
"The American people deserve to know when a country tries to use our freedom of speech to spread its own propaganda," Garland said.

Russia dismisses US accusation: "Pure rubbish"
Russia denies that it is trying to influence the outcome of this fall's US election, which the White House accuses Moscow of.
The US-convicted Russian agent and now Dumale member Maria Butina tells Reuters that Russia does not think it matters who wins this autumn's US presidential election.
- The American accusations are pure rubbish and a witch hunt, she says.
It is not the first time that Russia has been accused of something similar. After both the 2016 and 2020 elections, US intelligence agencies accused the country of trying to influence the outcome in Trump's favor. Russia denies this.
