New move to fight rats in New York: Birth control pills
New York is taking a new approach to tackling the city's rat problem. Now the rodents will be provided with birth control pills, writes Sky News.
Containers of pellets containing contraceptives will be deployed starting next year. When female rats eat the pills, they will not be able to get pregnant for 45 days.
The company Senestech is behind the pills and believes that it is a humane way to reduce the number of rats without harming the environment or other animals, which can be the case with rat poison. Also, birth control pills are more effective than poison, as so many rats are born. According to the company's own calculations, the population drops by 95 percent with contraceptives.
According to estimates, three million rats live in New York.

Stranded astronaut duo
Now their ride home has arrived - only leaving in March
All summer, astronauts Suni Williams and Butch Wilmore have been stranded on the International Space Station (ISS). Now the capsule that will give them a ride back to Earth has finally arrived at the space station, several media reports.
Crew-9, a copy of the Space X spacecraft Dragon, has now been flown "half-empty" up to the ISS, and docked during the night of Monday Swedish time. There were only two astronauts on board instead of four, so that Williams and Wilmore will have room during the return journey.
With the craft aboard were astronauts Aleksandr Gorbunov from Russia and Nick Hague from the United States. Their assignment runs until March next year, which means Williams and Wilmore will have to wait until then before going home. The original idea was that the two Americans would only spend eight days in space.
