The charges against Le Pen
Marine Le Pen can be stopped from the presidential election
The French far-right's Marine Le Pen may be stopped from running in the next presidential election. This is reported by several media.
Le Pen and her National Assembly party are accused of cheating with assistant money from the European Parliament between 2004 and 2016.
The parliament has demanded back a total of around SEK 40 million, which it is believed that Le Pen and other representatives of the party used for completely different things than what was intended. A person listed as an assistant in parliament was actually the bodyguard and chauffeur of the party's aging portal figure – and Marine le Pen's father – Jean Marie Le Pen.
Marine Le Pen risks a fine, up to ten years in prison and a five-year suspension from public office.
National collection is on the rise in the opinion polls and sees this autumn's trial as an opportunity to once again portray itself as a victim of the establishment, states TT.

16 were kept as slaves - worked at British McDonalds
16 people have been held as slaves by a criminal gang in London, who, among other things, forced them to work at McDonalds, according to an investigation by the BBC.
The victims were lured from their native Czech Republic with promises of well-paid jobs in the UK.
According to the channel's review, the employer should not have acted, despite clear warning signals.

Among other things, four of the employees had their salary paid to a fifth person's account.
According to Chris Acourt, one of the police officers who worked on the investigation, there were "massive opportunities" for the employers to discover that something was not right. Instead, the 16 people were able to work shifts of up to 30 hours straight for over four years.
Another police officer who worked on the investigation told the BBC that the victims were "treated like cattle" and only given enough food and money to "continue to function".
Two brothers have been convicted of human trafficking.
- I feel partially exploited by McDonalds, because they did nothing, says one of the victims.
McDonald's in Great Britain states in a statement that they have tightened their procedures.
