Israel receives close to SEK 90 billion in support from the United States

Israel says it has secured $8.7 billion in aid from the United States, writes Reuters. The support package corresponds to more than SEK 88 billion.

$3.5 billion is earmarked for what are described as "critical military purchases" and the remaining billions will go to the Iron Dome, David's Sling air defense systems and an advanced laser system that is under development.

"The significant investment will strengthen our critical systems significantly", writes the Israeli Ministry of Defense in a statement.

Israel is currently involved in two full-scale conflicts, one against Hezbollah in Lebanon and one against Hamas in Gaza.

IDF: Hezbollah drone chief killed in attack

The Israel Defense Forces state that the head of one of Hezbollah's air force units has been killed in an attack on Lebanon's capital Beirut, several media reports.

Sources tell Reuters and the Times of Israel that Mohammad Surur was killed in the attack. He was responsible for the Iran-backed militia's drone attacks against Israel.

Earlier on Thursday, Israel said it carried out targeted attacks on Beirut, and according to sources, they were aimed at a high-ranking Hezbollah leader.

Israel carried out targeted attacks on Beirut

Israel carried out targeted attacks on Lebanon's capital Beirut during Thursday, writes AFP and refers to a statement from the Israeli military.

Reuters writes with reference to source information that an attack, which was carried out in a suburb of the city, was aimed at a high-ranking Hezbollah leader. According to the news agency, an area where the Shia militia has several facilities was hit.
