Analysis: Nasrallah's death would be as transformative as Osama Bin Laden's

If Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah is killed by Israel, it will be a "lightning strike" with a revolutionary force not seen in the region since Osama bin Laden was killed in 2011. Anthony Samrani writes in an analysis in the text in the independent Lebanese L'Orient Today.

"He is considered a living god by his followers, who would demand revenge if he were assassinated," Samrani writes of Nasrallah.

At the same time, he believes that Israel's "very hard blows" are currently putting heavy pressure on Hezbollah, which is forced to choose between "humiliation or total war against a superior enemy."

Sky News' Alistair Bunkall writes that if Nasrallah is alive, he will likely try to appear on television as soon as possible. If he doesn't, he is probably dead - and the risk is then that he will be "replaced by someone more dangerous". Nasrallah himself became Hezbollah's supreme leader after his predecessor Abbas al Musawi was killed in 1992.

"Even if Nasrallah were to die, Hezbollah lives on," writes Bunkall.

At the same time, the news agency AP states that "five days of frenetic diplomacy" in connection with the UN General Assembly meeting in New York "has yielded few results".

Boris Johnson considered invading the Netherlands

Former British Prime Minister Boris Johnson considered an invasion of the Netherlands.

This is to seize the vaccine against Covid-19. That is what Johnson writes in an autobiography to be published next month, The Telegraph reports.

The ex-prime minister is said to have consulted the armed forces if it would be possible to carry out a military operation against Leiden in the Netherlands and seize vaccines from a warehouse there.
Five million doses of vaccine were stored in the building. Doses that Johnson considered to be British, because they were developed in Britain.

However, he must have quickly realized that the plan was doomed to failure. He also admits in his autobiography that the idea of invading a NATO ally was "crazy".

In the autobiography, he also reveals that he was close to dying from Covid in the pandemic.
