US Vice President JD Vance's wife, Usha Vance, is traveling to Greenland.
Something that makes Danish Prime Minister Mette Fredriksen react.
- We are taking it seriously, she says.
US President Donald Trump has not given up on his dream of buying Greenland.
He has previously sent his son there to try to get a deal with the local government.
This time, Vice President Vance's wife Usha Vance and National Security Advisor Michael Waltz are on their way.
"I am excited to announce that I will be visiting Greenland next week with a special message to the Greenlanders. I look forward to meeting you!", she writes on Instagram.
The US second lady completed her studies at Yale and Cambridge with top grades and then began working as a lawyer. There, she has reaped great success, according to American media.
Vance was a registered Democrat until 2014 and has since stood as an independent.
She kept a low profile in the American election campaign until the Republican convention in July, where she took the stage and introduced her husband with a speech that did not contain the words Trump or the Republicans.
After JD Vance entered the White House, she has chosen to put her career on hold to take care of her family.
Going on a dog sled race
During her visit to Greenland, she writes that she is going on a dog sled race.
“I have read all about it with my children and I am amazed by the incredible skill and cooperation required to participate in the race,” she says in the video.
“The relations between our countries will only grow stronger in the coming years.”
Danish Prime Minister Mette Fredriksen does not seem convinced that the visit is just about the dog sledding competition:
“The visit from the US cannot be seen independently of the public statements that have been made. In the Kingdom, we want to cooperate with the Americans. But it must and must be a cooperation that is based on the fundamental values of sovereignty and respect between countries and peoples,” she tells TV2 and continues:
“It is something we take seriously. The dialogue with the US about Greenland will take place in close coordination between the Danish government and the future Greenlandic government.”
