NATO's future
Rutte: Everyone should stop gossiping about the US and NATO

During the summit in London, NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte was asked whether the US and Donald Trump are still committed to NATO.

According to SVT Nyheter, he replied that it is high time for everyone involved to stop "gossip" about this.

- They are part of NATO, they are committed to NATO and to Article Five. That is what they have repeatedly said, he said.

As recently as Sunday morning, Elon Musk, tech billionaire and Donald Trump's right-hand man, suggested that the US should withdraw from the defense alliance. Donald Trump has also been harshly critical of NATO, as he believes that several member countries use the US's enormous defense budget as their own defense.

Rutte also said in connection with the meeting in London that several countries have promised to increase their defense budgets. This issue is seen as one of the central issues ahead of this summer's NATO summit.

The Swedish security situation

Swedes worried about war: “Never been at that level”

Swedes are clearly more worried about the world situation than before. This is shown by an upcoming survey from the SOM Institute at the University of Gothenburg, reports Sveriges Radio's Ekot.

In the survey, 44 percent of Swedes say they are very worried about military conflicts and 35 percent are very worried about a third world war.

“Since we started measuring this around 2001, it has never been at such high levels,” says survey leader Marcus Weissenbilder.

Other issues, such as climate and the environment and the economy, are given lower priority than before.

Pope's health
Pope's condition "complex" - but he prays for Ukraine

Pope Francis' health remains stable but his illness is complex, the Vatican announced. Several media outlets reported this.

The Pope can now breathe without assistance and spent Sunday praying and resting.

"Thank you for your prayers [...] I feel in my heart the 'blessing' hidden in fragility," the Pope said in a written statement, in which he also prayed for peace in Ukraine and noted that "from here the war appears even more absurd."

The long-term prognosis for the Pope is still "reserved," according to the Vatican, due to the "clinical complexity" of the illness.

The Pope has been hospitalized for bilateral pneumonia since February 14.
