Russian invasion

The world's response
Analysis: Can Trump's bestie with the dialect solve this?

Earlier this week, Donald Trump said that British Prime Minister Keir Starmer is his new best friend with a "wonderful dialect". Now it's time for Starmer to put that relationship to the test, writes Sky News' Amanda Akass in an analysis.

According to her, Starmer has tried to promote himself as the one who will repair the relationship between the US and Europe. However, she believes that this task looks almost impossible after Zelenskyj's and Trump's quarrel in the White House.

"The question is whether Starmer has enough influence to stand up for Zelenskyj and at the same time revive US support," she writes.

But is it really impossible to repair the relationship between the American and Ukrainian presidents? That is the question asked by the BBC's James Landale in his analysis.

He writes that it will take skillful diplomacy from Europe and Ukraine, that the negotiations on the mineral agreement are revived and that Zelensky apologizes. In other words, he writes that there are still possibilities.

“But if the US were to withdraw its military support for Ukraine, that would be the nail in the coffin.”

White House row
Source: Trump wants public apology from Zelensky

Donald Trump’s administration has, in private talks with Kyiv, demanded that President Volodymyr Zelensky publicly apologize after the row in the White House. This is reported by a European source to Bloomberg.

Secretary of State Marco Rubio demanded the same thing in an interview with CNN after the row. Zelensky does not seem to heed the demand. When he was interviewed on Fox News during the night, he was asked several times if he planned to apologize:

– No, I respect the president and I respect the American people. I think we have to be very open and very honest, Zelensky said.
