Czech Republic ready to send troops to Ukraine
The Czech Republic is ready to participate in Britain's "coalition of the willing" and send peacekeeping troops to Ukraine. This is what President Petr Pavel says in an interview with European Pravda.
- As soon as there is a general agreement to send a force, the Czech Republic will be part of it.
Giving Ukraine security guarantees is a way for European countries to protect themselves as well, according to Pavel.
He also believes that NATO membership for Ukraine should not be completely ruled out - politicians come and go, and in a few years the US will have a new administration, he says.
Sources: China considering sending troops to Ukraine
China is considering contributing to the peacekeeping force planned to maintain peace in Ukraine. This is stated by diplomatic sources within the EU to the German Welt.
– Including China in a “coalition of the willing” could potentially increase Russia’s acceptance of peacekeeping troops in Ukraine, says one of them, calling the issue sensitive.
On Thursday, Emmanuel Macron called for another meeting with the coalition, which France and Britain initiated. The meeting will take place in Paris and, according to Macron, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is expected to attend.
Russia has repeatedly rejected the idea of European peacekeeping forces as part of a peace settlement.
