A new meeting on Ukraine will be held in London today.
Now several European countries are joining forces to develop a peace plan.
Great Britain and France have now agreed to develop a peace plan for the war together with Ukraine. The whole thing will then be presented to the US.
This was announced by the British Prime Minister, according to The Guardian.
Talks with the USA
In recent weeks, the US has held meetings with both Ukraine and Russian about how to end the war.
However, the talks between the US and Ukraine have been slow. As recently as Friday, they ended with Volodymyr Zelensky being kicked out of the White House.
At the same time, the outside world has been following the US's actions and the new foreign policy direction that has taken shape after Donald Trump took office as president.
Several leaders have criticized his overtures to Russia, and believe that he is playing into Putin's hands.
On Sunday, at 1:45 p.m. Swedish time, several European leaders will meet in London to discuss how the situation should be handled - and the war should be ended, in consultation with Ukraine.
Something that Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov is furious about.
– The discussion in Europe about peacekeeping forces in Ukraine is arrogant, Lavrov said according to the news agency.
At the same time, he praises Trump.
– Trump is pragmatic and has common sense, the foreign minister continues.
Starmer: US support is needed
British Prime Minister Keir Starmer announced earlier on Sunday that Europe needs American security guarantees when it comes to Ukraine, Reuters reports.
In recent years, the United States has contributed both financial support and important weapons systems to Ukraine.
This is something that will be needed in the future as well, even if Europe increases its support, according to Starmer.

von der Leyen: "Urgent to arm Europe"

Ukraine needs security guarantees and Europe must step up.
This is according to Ursula von der Leyen, who was one of the first to leave Starmer's summit.
- It is urgent to arm Europe, she says.
The
EU summit was one of the first to come out of the doors after the
meeting. According to her, the 19 leaders who met had a "good and frank
discussion" and says that the meeting was about what is needed to
strengthen Ukraine's position.
What is needed most now are comprehensive security guarantees in the form of military and economic support.
- The US must be told that we are ready to defend democracy, she says.
She also points a boot at the US.
–
We are ready, together with you, to defend democracy and the principle
that there is a rule of law. That you cannot invade and bully your
neighbor or change borders by force, says von der Leyen.
