Elon Musk is once again the world's richest person.  

 

Namely, the Tesla share has skyrocketed in value on the New York stock exchange.  

 

To say the least, things have been up and down for Tesla CEO and entrepreneur Elon Musk lately.  

 

In early January, Guinness World Records announced that he had broken a world record by becoming the first person ever to personally lose $200 billion.  

 

70 percent this year  

 

But now he is once again the world's richest person, Bloomberg reports based on its billionaire index.  

 

The reason is that the Tesla share has risen in value by 70 percent this year.  

 

Since the dismal record in January, the share price has risen by 100 percent, according to Bloomberg.

The stock rose again  

 

And Musk himself has gone from a stock fortune of $137 billion at the turn of the year - to $187 billion yesterday, as Tesla's stock rose another 5.5 percent on the New York Stock Exchange. 

 

He is now a little more wealthy than the French luxury magnate Bernard Arnault, who for a short time took over the first place as the richest person in the world. Arnault, the main owner of the luxury goods company LVMH, currently has a stock fortune of 185.3 billion dollars.
