Two Israelis shot dead in the West Bank
Two Israeli citizens were shot dead in the West Bank city of Nablus on Sunday, several media reports.
Sources tell Haaretz that the Israelis' car was rammed by the assailant before they were shot several times. The perpetrator is said to have worn a shirt with the seal of a militant Islamist group.
The region has been troubled lately. Earlier this week, eleven Palestinians were killed when the Israeli military carried out a crackdown in Nablus.

Ministry: The coronavirus probably came from a lab
A lab leak is the most likely explanation for how the coronavirus began to spread, writes the US Department of Energy in a new report according to the Wall Street Journal.
The ministry has previously not taken a position on the issue, but is now updating its assessment in the light of new information, it is unclear which. Its assessment is given great weight because it has great scientific expertise and is responsible for several American laboratories.
In 2021, the federal police agency FBI came to the same conclusion, namely that an accident in a Chinese lab probably caused the spread of the virus. Four other US authorities are still making the assessment that the virus came from an animal.

Putin broke the silence after the anniversary - spoke on television
While Ukraine and the West marked the anniversary of the Russian invasion in several ways on Friday, it has been turned off by the Kremlin - according to the ISW think tank, due to the lack of progress in the war.
On Sunday, however, Vladimir Putin broke the silence in an interview with the state-run Russian television channel Rossiya-1, writes Reuters.
In the cartoon, the president usually portrayed Russia as the victim of the war of aggression he started, and that the war is a question of the country's very existence.
Among other things, Putin baselessly claimed that the West has a written plan to dismember Russia and plunder the country for raw materials, which will lead to ethnic cleansing.
Furthermore, he said that it is not possible to ignore the nuclear weapons capabilities of the NATO countries "whose goal is to strategically defeat us so that our people suffer".

White House: High price if China sells weapons to Russia
China has not sold any weapons to Russia and behind closed doors the US has made it clear that there would be "serious consequences" if they were to carry out such a deal. White House security adviser Jake Sullivan told CNN according to Reuters.
- Beijing can make its own decisions. If they choose to give military support to Russia, it will come with a high price, says Sullivan, without going into what measures the US can take.
The comments come after it was stated this week that China is ready to sell, among other things, drones to Russia. According to Sullivan, the deal has not been completed, but Beijing has not dismissed the deal either.

Ursula von der Leyen: Must get the EU migrant pact
The president of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, calls Sunday's fatal accident in the Mediterranean Sea, in which some 60 refugees died, a "tragedy" and calls for reforms of the EU's migration and asylum laws, reports AFP.
- We must redouble our efforts to achieve the EU's migration pact, she says.
In autumn 2020, Swedish EU Commissioner Ylva Johansson (S) put forward a proposal for a new common asylum and migration system within the EU, writes the Altinget. The negotiations have dragged on considerably and no decision has yet been made on the issue.
