The Russian invasion The battles

Putin: Will fire the new robot more times

Russia will fire the new Oreshnik ballistic robot more times, says Vladimir Putin according to AFP.

- We will continue these tests, including under combat conditions, depending on the type of security threat directed at Russia, the president says in a video meeting with military commanders.

Putin adds that he has ordered mass production of the robot, which flies at ten times the speed of sound and was first used against Ukraine's Dnipro on Thursday night.

Ukraine has lost close to half of the ground in Kursk

Ukraine is steadily losing ground in the Russian region of Kursk. The area controlled by the army has almost halved in size, an army source told AFP.

- The largest territory we controlled was 1 376 square kilometers. Now it is around 800 square kilometers.

The source adds that Ukraine will stay in the region "as long as it is appropriate".

The Kursk surprise offensive began on August 6. Since then, North Korean forces have arrived to help the Russian army retake the area.
