Judge gives Trump the green light to fire thousands

On Friday, a federal judge gave the Trump administration the green light to proceed with the dismantling of the development assistance agency USAID, American media reports.

After a union lawsuit, the judge had temporarily put a stop to the plan, but denied the request to extend the stop indefinitely. The decision will likely be appealed, writes CNN.

The White House plans to lay off thousands of USAID employees, almost the entire workforce.

At the same time, the Defense Department announced that around 5,400 probationary positions will end next week as the first step in reducing the civilian workforce by five to eight percent, according to Reuters.

The department is also imposing an indefinite hiring freeze while it "evaluates its staffing needs."

AP news agency sues Trump executives after porting

The AP news agency is suing three senior staff members of President Donald Trump's administration, the news agency writes.

The White House has shut down the AP from the White House, Air Force One and Trump's Mar-a-Lago residence because the news agency refused to call the Atlantic Gulf the American Gulf, which Trump believes the gulf is now called.

- We will keep them out until they agree that it is called the American Gulf, Trump said on Tuesday.

The AP is one of the world's largest news agencies. The news agency also acts as a kind of informal language guide for American media.

French right-wing leader backs out after Bannon's gesture

Jordan Bardella, leader of the French far-right National Rally party, is canceling his speech at the American political conference CPAC. This is reported by AFP.

The reason is that Steve Bannon, Donald Trump's former chief strategist, raised his arm in a movement identical to a Hitler salute during his speech at the conference. "A gesture that alludes to Nazi ideology," Bardella writes in a statement.

Bannon himself claims that it was a gesture. He calls the 29-year-old Bardella a "little boy" who is "unworthy of leading his country."

Steve Bannon accused of waving at a meeting

Donald Trump's former chief strategist Steve Bannon is accused of making a Hitler salute during last night's CPAC meeting, according to Newsweek.

In his speech from the conservative meeting, Bannon talks about wanting Donald Trump to run in the 2028 election, something that violates the US Constitution.

He says that the only way "they will win against us is if we withdraw."

- We will not withdraw. We will not capitulate. We will not stop. Fight, fight, fight, he continues and makes the gesture.

The speech and the greeting were met with cheers from the audience.

Bannon has not commented on the gesture. In connection with Trump's inauguration as president, tech billionaire Elon Musk made a gesture that looks like a Hitler salute.

Musk waved an Argentine chainsaw at a conference

Tech billionaire Elon Musk waved a chainsaw at a conference in National Harbor outside Washington last night, several media outlets report. Musk, who is working to cut federal spending under Donald Trump, received the chainsaw from Argentine President Javier Milei.

- This is the chainsaw for bureaucracy, Musk said on stage.

During the 2023 presidential election campaign, Milei made big headlines when he waved a chainsaw that was supposed to symbolize his promise to cut public spending.
