Trump's first term

Japanese Prime Minister to meet Trump at the White House

Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba is packing his bags and heading to the US to meet Donald Trump this week, AFP reports, citing a statement from the Japanese government.

- If circumstances permit, he will visit the US between February 6 and 8 and participate in the first Japan-US summit with President Trump in Washington DC, said spokesman Yoshimasa Hayashi.

Ishiba will be the second foreign leader to visit Trump since the US presidential election. Benjamin Netanyahu was the first to be invited to the White House.

Trump wants to dismantle the Department of Education

The White House is preparing a presidential order to begin dismantling the US Department of Education, two sources with knowledge of the matter told CNN.

It is a promise that Donald Trump made during his presidential campaign, and in a next step, the administration is expected to work for a congressional decision to close the department completely, according to the information.

The TV channel has previously reported that the measure is part of Elon Musk's streamlining of the American government.

During his first term, Trump proposed merging the Department of Education with the Department of Labor. But despite the fact that Republicans controlled both the Senate and Congress at the time, the proposal did not receive sufficient support.

Trump: Iran will be destroyed - if they succeed in assassinating me

Donald Trump has signed a presidential order that means the United States will leave the UN Human Rights Council. Several media outlets are reporting this.

During an effective session in the Oval Office, the president has signed a number of different presidential orders and other decisions. He has, among other things, issued a memorandum addressed to the Iranian government in which he states that the country is "way too close" to developing a nuclear bomb.

Trump also says he has instructed his advisers to “destroy Iran” if the country ensures that he himself is assassinated, writes AP. The US Department of Justice has previously said that Iranian plans to assassinate Trump have been stopped.

Other decisions involve continued curtailment of support for Unrwa, the UN agency for Palestinian refugees.

Trump has previously signed decisions to withdraw the US from the WHO and the Paris Agreement on climate change.
