One dead in shootout between Thailand and Cambodia

A Cambodian soldier has been killed after soldiers from Thailand and Cambodia shot at each other, AFP reports.

The shooting took place in a disputed border area between the countries. According to the Thai army, Cambodian soldiers had entered the area, and when Thai soldiers approached them, they opened fire.

Soldiers from both countries shot at each other for about ten minutes before commanders stopped the exchange of fire.

New launch for Musk’s Starship – exploded

The Starship spacecraft successfully launched into space but lost control and exploded upon re-entry, news agencies report.

“As if the flight test wasn’t exciting enough, Starship experienced a rapid, unplanned disassembly,” the company writes on X.

It began spinning and leaking fuel into space as it exited the Earth’s atmosphere.

During the test flight, it also failed to test the ability to release satellites during space travel, when a hatch malfunctioned.

Elon Musk’s company Space X Starship is behind the Starship spacecraft, which is described as the world’s most powerful. The craft is also described as a central part of NASA's plans to land astronauts on the moon before the end of the decade, and Elon Musk's plans to colonize Mars.

French pedophile scandal
French pedophile surgeon sentenced to 20 years in prison

The 74-year-old retired surgeon Joel Le Scouarnec has been sentenced to 20 years in prison for raping and molesting 299 patients, reports BFM. Of those, 256 patients were children.

The abuse took place between 1989 and 2014 and the case has been one of the country's largest sex cases of all time where children are victims.

During the trial, Le Scouarnec admitted to all the charges against him.

Several rapes were carried out under the guise of rectal examinations. Many of the victims were under anesthesia at the time of the crime.

Despite being convicted in 2005 of possessing child pornography, Le Scouarnec was allowed to continue working as a doctor until his retirement in 2017. That same year, he was arrested for, among other things, raping his nieces. When the surgeon's home was searched, more than 300,000 images of abuse and thousands of diary pages were found in which he documented the abuse of his patients.
