Trump attacks judges: "Is it Trump hate?"
After the US International Trade Court's tariff freeze, Donald Trump attacks the three judges who are part of it.
"How is it possible that they could have potentially caused such damage to the United States? Is it just hatred of 'Trump'?", the president writes on his own service Truth Social.
He also mentions that he followed the recommendation of the conservative and libertarian The Federalists Society when appointing the judges.
"I did it, openly and freely, but then realized that they were under the thumb of a real 'sleazebag'," he writes about the organization's chairman.
Bessent: Tariff talks with China "a little stuck"
Tariff negotiations between the US and China are "a little stuck" and require direct talks between the two leaders of the countries, Donald Trump and Xi. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent tells Fox News.
– Given the scope and complexity of the talks, it will require both leaders to get involved themselves, says Bessent, who states that the parties are expected to have more talks in the coming weeks.
He also says that he is confident that China “will come to the negotiating table when Trump makes his wishes clear”.
Tariff bill: Over $34 billion so far
Donald Trump’s tariff war has so far cost companies over $34 billion, equivalent to 327 billion kronor, according to Reuters, which has reviewed financial reports, statements and conference calls.
This is about lost sales, missed profit forecasts and higher costs. The 34 billion is an estimate, writes Reuters, and the cost to companies will probably be greater than what has been reported.
– You can double or triple the figure [...] the scale will certainly be much greater than most people realize, says Jeffrey Sonnenfeld, a professor at the Yale School of Management, to Reuters.
The figures are estimates from 32 companies on the S&P 500 index, three from Europe's Stoxx 600 index and 21 companies from Japan's Nikkei 225 index.
