The nuclear deal with Iran

Iran: Can allow US inspectors

Iran is open to allowing US inspectors from the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) to inspect the country's nuclear facilities if an agreement can be reached with the US. This is what Iran's nuclear chief Mohammad Eslami says, AFP reports.

According to IAEA Director General Rafael Mariano Grossi, the UN agency has not yet been involved in any of the talks that have been held between the US and Iran so far.

- The fact that they continue to meet is a sign of a willingness to reach an agreement, he says during a visit to Vienna, AP reports.

According to Iran, planning is still underway for the time and place for a sixth round of talks with the US.

Sources: US and Israel on a collision course over Iran

While the US is negotiating a nuclear deal with Iran, Israel continues to threaten attacks on Iranian enrichment facilities, which would undermine the tests. This is what sources with insight tell the New York Times.

The situation has reportedly given rise to at least one tense phone call between Donald Trump and Benjamin Netanyahu, and Israeli and American officials have held a series of meetings in recent days.

Israel denies the reports, calling them “fake news,” according to Reuters.

In April, sources told the NYT that Netanyahu was planning attacks on Iran. Trump then reportedly persuaded him to desist because he wanted to continue negotiating with Tehran.
