Russia invites new peace talks.

Ukraine has accepted – on one condition.

“The Russian side has at least four days,” writes Ukrainian Defense Minister Rusten Umerov on X.

Russia has proposed new peace negotiations with Ukraine in Istanbul on June 2.

Ukrainian Defense Minister Rusten Umerov writes on X that Ukraine will participate.

But they demand that Russia first present its list of demands for a ceasefire.

“Peace Memorandum”

According to Umerov, Russia said at the latest meeting in Istanbul that they would hand over a “peace memorandum” – but believes that this has not yet happened.

“We do not oppose new meetings with the Russians and await their ‘memorandum’, so that the meeting will not be devoid of content but will really bring us closer to an end to the war.”, writes Umerov on X.

He also writes that Ukraine has handed over its documentation.

Earlier in the day, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky proposed trilateral talks with US President Donald Trump and Putin.

But the Kremlin says that such a meeting can only take place after the countries’ negotiators have met and come to something concrete.

Trump: If Putin is fooling us...

US President Donald Trump tells Reuters that he "doesn't know if Putin will end the war" but that they "will find out soon".

At the same time, Trump highlights that the US will "react differently if Putin is fooling us".

Representatives of Russia and Ukraine met on May 16 in Istanbul for a first round of peace talks.

At that time, it was decided that both sides would release 1,000 prisoners of war each. The exchange was carried out last weekend.
