FBI raids former Trump adviser

The FBI has searched the Maryland home of Donald Trump's former national security adviser John Bolton, a source told the AP. The source said it was an investigation into "handling classified documents".

Bolton has not been arrested or charged with any crime and neither the White House nor Bolton's legal representative would comment on the raid.

Bolton worked for Trump during his first term but has recently become a vocal critic of the president. On Donald Trump's first day as president in January, he removed the security clearances of four former officials, Bolton being one of them.

FBI Director Kash Patel writes in a cryptic post on X that "no one is above the law".

Sources: Suspected of possessing classified information

Former Trump adviser John Bolton is suspected of illegally sharing or possessing classified information. This is reported by two FBI sources to the New York Times.

Bolton was national security adviser to Donald Trump during the president's first term but has become a vocal critic of him after his time in the White House. When Trump returned to the presidency, Bolton lost his security clearance.

An investigation was also conducted against him in 2021 when he was about to publish his memoirs from his time as national security adviser. At that time, the Justice Department threatened to sue him because they believed that the book contained classified information, but that investigation was then dropped.

Judge closes "Alligator Alcatraz" for environmental reasons

A federal judge in Miami ordered on Thursday that large parts of Donald Trump's migrant detention center "Alligator Alcatraz" be closed, the New York Times reports. The reason is said to be environmental reasons.

- The project causes irreversible damage in the form of habitat loss and increased mortality for endangered species in the area, says Judge Kathleen Williams.

The state now has two months to move current inmates and dismantle large parts of the structure.
