Former Ukrainian Speaker Murdered in Lviv

Top Ukrainian politician Andriy Parubiy has been shot dead in the city of Lviv, which is located in the western part of the country – far from the front lines of the war. This is reported by the Kyiv Independent.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy writes on X that the incident is a “horrible murder”.

“All necessary forces and means are being deployed in the investigation and search for the killer”, he writes.

Parubiy has been the speaker of the Ukrainian parliament and head of the country’s National Security Council. He is described as having played a prominent role in the so-called Euromaidan protests in Ukraine in 2014.

Report: The shooter was dressed as a courier – escaped on a bicycle

The shooter who murdered top Ukrainian politician Andriy Parubiy is said to have been dressed as a courier and traveled on an electric bicycle, reports the Ukrainian public service company Suspilne, citing sources.

The victim was shot to death with several shots on Saturday, the prosecutor's office said. According to Suspilne police sources, seven cartridge casings were found at the crime scene in Lviv.

The police have launched a special operation called Operation Siren to find the suspected murderer, writes Kyiv Independent.

Parubiy was a well-known politician who had previously been the speaker of parliament and led the country's security council.
