Budget crisis in the US

The Speaker: May take the opportunity to get his own policies through

White House Budget Chairman Russell Vought plans to fire federal employees within "a couple of days". He told several members of the House of Representatives yesterday, according to sources to Bloomberg. It is a sign that Republicans will respond to Democrats' tough tactics regarding the shutdown with the same coin, the news agency writes.

House of Representatives Republican Speaker Mike Johnson told Fox News that Republicans will try to exploit the shutdown, which they believe is the Democrats' fault, to implement some of their own policies.

- We will do some things that we otherwise would not have been able to do, because we would never be able to get Democrats to vote for them, he says in an interview with Fox News.

Union warns of disruptions in air traffic: "Unnecessary"

Around 13,300 air traffic controllers are forced to work without pay during the shutdown of the US government. Now the airline industry is warning of both short- and long-term disruptions, reports TT.

"When the federal government shuts down operations, unnecessary disruptions occur and our entire aviation system is weakened," said Nick Daniel, president of the American air traffic controllers' union NATCA, in a comment.

The industry organization Airlines for America, which represents several major airlines, is on the same track.
