Israel: Last chance to leave Gaza City
The Israeli military has issued what it says is a final warning to residents of Gaza City, urging them to leave. Anyone who remains in the city will be considered terrorists or terror supporters and will face the “full force” of the offensive, according to Defense Minister Israel Katz.
“This is the last chance for Gazans who want to leave the city and isolate Hamas there,” he said, according to The Guardian on Wednesday.
International observers believe that the evacuation order in practice means forced displacement and that civilians who remain do not lose their protection under international law, the newspaper writes.
Israeli ambassador on the testimonies: “Fake”
Earlier this week, P3 News published documentary testimonies from foreign doctors who told how children in Gaza arrived at hospitals with gunshot wounds to the head.
Israel has been singled out, something the country's ambassador to Sweden, Ziv Nevo Kulman, dismisses in an interview with Aftonbladet as "false accusations."
- There are no directives whatsoever instructing Israeli soldiers to deliberately attack civilians. In war, unfortunately, it happens that civilians are injured or die, he says.
Instead, he believes that it is Hamas that deliberately shoots people in the head.
Aftonbladet writes that Israeli soldiers have testified that they deliberately shot at civilians, something Ziv Nevo Kulman does not want to comment on. When asked if he believes the statements are false, he replies:
- I think they are untrue because such orders do not exist.
