French anger after Trump's new mockery of Macron

Neither "elegant" nor at the level of a president, says France's Emmanuel Macron after being mocked by his US counterpart Donald Trump.

It was at a lunch on Wednesday that Trump sparred with Macron.

- His wife treats him very badly and he's still recovering from that slap in the face, Trump grinned, referring to the push Macron received from his wife Brigitte on the way out of a flight last year.

The words came in connection with Trump's regret at France's unwillingness to help in the war with Iran.

– “No, no, no, I can’t do it, Donald. We can do it after the war,” Trump mimicked his French counterpart.

However, neither Macron nor even the political opposition in France is particularly amused.

– Absolutely unacceptable, left-wing politician Manuel Bompard told the television channel BFMTV, according to the AFP news agency.
