Mark Rutte storms towards the job as NATO chief
Outgoing Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte appears to be in a good position to succeed Jens Stoltenberg as NATO chief. More than 20 countries stand behind Rutte, sources told Politico.
Among other things, Rutte is said to have the support of US President Joe Biden, something which, according to the political site, can convince more allies that Rutte is the right choice.
Biden has not officially expressed his support for Rutte. However, the United States has made it clear that it wants to see the issue resolved by April. Stoltenberg's mandate expires in October.
At lunchtime on Thursday, the United Kingdom announced that it is supporting Rutte.

Frederiksen repeats: Answers no to the NATO question
Denmark's Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen declines if she is offered the job of NATO chief when Jens Stoltenberg's mandate expires in October. She has previously said the same thing and repeated the message at a press conference about Denmark's military support to Ukraine on Thursday.
Frederiksen's name has appeared in the speculation about who will take over the leadership of NATO.
Now everything seems to indicate that Mark Rutte, outgoing Prime Minister of the Netherlands, will become the new NATO chief. He is reported to have great support among the allied countries.
