Forest workers shot with bow and arrow by isolated tribe in Peru - at least two dead
Members of the Peruvian indigenous Maschco Piro, who live completely isolated from the outside world, have shot dead at least two loggers with a bow and arrow.
Another one has been injured and two others are missing after the confrontation with the indigenous people, who live in a remote part of the Peruvian rainforest and have never been in contact with the rest of the world.
The incident must have happened last Thursday but has only now become known.
The tribe is said to consist of 750 individuals. Although the members have the right to their land, Peruvian authorities have allowed several forestry companies to clear forests on their land.

Demands a stop to logging: "People have been killed"
Indigenous interest groups in Peru are demanding that logging company Canales Tahuamanu lose its license for the region bordering the territory of the Maschco Piro tribe in the Peruvian Amazon. The Guardian reports.
The demand comes in connection with at least two forest workers being shot dead when they were confronted by members of the tribe last week.
- People have been injured, killed and are missing. We don't know what is happening or has happened, says Eusebio Rios, vice president of the interest organization Fenamad.
At the same time, he demands that all forest workers be evacuated from the area.
