Analysis: "The arms industry the only ones laughing in Munich"
"Echoes from Munich 1938" and an upcoming "Nuremberg 2.0" - these are some of the parallels that Politico's Matthew Karnitschnig makes in an analysis after the end of the security conference in Munich.
He points to the fact that US Vice President Kamala Harris increased the pressure on Russia by formally accusing the country of crimes against humanity and stating that justice must be served.
“In other words, Russian leaders could face a Nuremberg 2.0. That may make some people in Moscow nervous, especially those who remember what happened to Yugoslavian strongman Slobodan Milosevic and his circle.”
Karnitschnig states that it is not calmer in Asia, where a Taiwan at full throttle is trying to guess China's next move.
"The only people laughing at this year's security conference are the arms industry."
