The editor: The Høiby case is unique in Norwegian history
The Norwegian royal house is in a "pretty difficult situation" after the crown princess's son Marius Borg Høiby was arrested a third time, due to new suspicions of rape. That's what Dagbladet's political editor Lars Helle tells his own newspaper.
- It is very, very serious; it is very, very dramatic and it is completely unique in Norwegian history.
What is crucial now is that the royal house in no way gets involved in the investigation, according to Helle, but lets it continue "as if it concerned anyone."
VG was able to reveal earlier in the autumn that Crown Princess Mette-Marit had warned Borg Høiby that the police planned to arrest him.
- There is really nothing strange about it, mothers have the right to help their children, but it raises questions about why the crown princess was made aware of the arrest in advance, says VG's columnist Astrid Meland to the newspaper.
Marius Borg Høiby arrested again - suspected of rape
The Norwegian crown princess's son Marius Borg Høiby has been arrested again, Norwegian media reports. According to Dagbladet, the charge against Høiby has been expanded, and now also includes rape against a person who is "unconscious or for other reasons unable to oppose the act".
According to VG, Borg Høiby was arrested on Monday evening after new information emerged during the investigation against him. It is still unclear how he reacts to the new suspicions.
Marius Borg Høiby is the son of Norwegian Crown Princess Mette-Marit. He has previously been suspected, among other things, of having abused a former girlfriend.
