Joe Biden is not happy with the ICC's decision: "Scandalous"
That the International Criminal Court ICC wants to arrest Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu does not sit well with Joe Biden. This is stated in a statement signed by the President of the United States on the White House website.
"The ICC's arrest warrant against Israeli leaders is scandalous," Biden writes and continues:
"Let me be clear: whatever the ICC suggests, there is no similarity - none at all - between Israel and Hamas. We will always stand with Israel in the face of threats to its security”.
The ICC's arrest warrant also includes Israel's former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant and Hamas leader Mohammed Deif. Israel has previously stated that Deif was killed.

Orbán to Netanyahu: You are welcome in Hungary
Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán will invite Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to a meeting to defy the International Criminal Court's arrest warrant, Reuters reports.
In a statement, Orbán says the arrest warrant will not be followed. In an earlier interview with state radio, the prime minister said the ICC's decision is wrong and that Netanyahu will be safe in Hungary.
The ICC also issued an arrest warrant against former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant and a Hamas leader for crimes against humanity.
The White House condemns the ICC arrest warrant
The US "utterly condemns" the ICC's arrest warrant against Netanyahu. This is according to a spokesman for the White House Security Council, according to Reuters.
"We remain deeply troubled by the prosecutor's haste to issue the arrest warrant and the errors in the process that led to this decision."
The US is now discussing next steps with its partners, according to the statement.
Mike Waltz, future national security adviser in Donald Trump's administration, promises "a strong response to ICC and UN anti-Semitism in January" in a post on X.
