The Middle East crisis

The reactions
EU summit roars: "Can't choose who you arrest"

All EU members are bound by the Rome Statute and cannot choose which ICC wanted persons they arrest or not. That's what the EU's outgoing foreign affairs chief Josep Borrell says, according to Reuters.

He also criticizes Israel's government for calling the court anti-Semitic, accusing them of doing so as soon as someone objects to their actions.

- I have the right to criticize the Israeli government's decision [...] without being accused of anti-Semitism. It's not acceptable, enough is enough.

So far, seven European countries have announced they would arrest Benjamin Netanyahu following the ICC's arrest warrant, according to Politico. Six have given mixed answers, and Hungary has said no.

Here are the countries in Europe that would arrest Netanyahu

Politico has compiled a list of the European countries that have signaled they would arrest Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu if he visited them, following the ICC's arrest warrant.

Seven countries have announced that they would do so: Norway, the Netherlands, Ireland, Belgium, Spain, Austria and Slovenia.

Hungary is the only country that has clearly stated that it would not arrest Netanyahu. Prime Minister Viktor Orbán has instead responded by inviting his Israeli counterpart.

More vague answers have come from the Czech Republic, Germany, Italy, France, Great Britain - and Sweden.

Foreign Minister Maria Malmer Stenergard (M) says that Sweden "supports the court's important work", but does not directly answer whether Netanyahu should be arrested.

Israel-Hezbollah
Sources: Hezbollah has copied Israeli robots

Hezbollah is using copies of advanced robots they previously stole from Israel to attack the country. This is stated by Israeli military sources for the New York Times.

Hezbollah is said to have come across several armor-piercing Israeli robots of the Spike model during the 2006 war. They are said to have then used the robots as blueprints to be able to manufacture copies.

Experts that the New York Times has spoken to believe that the strategy has the potential to "fundamentally change the region's power dynamics".

- What was once a gradual spread of an older generation of robots has turned into a lightning-fast development of high-tech systems, says weapons analyst Mohammed Al-Basha to the newspaper.

The Gaza war
Details: Israeli hostage killed in Gaza

An Israeli hostage held captive in Gaza has been killed in connection with an Israeli attack, a Hamas spokesman said, according to Al Jazeera.

The attack reportedly occurred several weeks ago and led to Hamas losing contact with the members holding the hostages. When they regained contact, they were able to determine that the hostage had been killed. Exactly how it happened is not clear from Hamas's statement.

The Israeli government has not yet commented on the data.

Israel's relations with the Arab world
Israel investigates missing United Arab Emirates citizen

The Israeli intelligence service is investigating the disappearance of an Israeli citizen in the United Arab Emirates, Israeli media reports.

Rabbi Zvi Kogan has been missing since Wednesday, and security sources tell Haaretz that the disappearance may be linked to a terrorist crime.

"Israeli intelligence and security services are working tirelessly out of concern for Zvi Kogan's safety and health," Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's staff wrote in a statement, according to the Jerusalem Post.

The United Arab Emirates has yet to comment on the data.
