Rebels break ceasefire: "Was a tactical maneuver"
The M23 rebel group is reported to have launched a new offensive in the eastern parts of Congo-Kinshasa, reports AFP.
– This proves that the unilateral ceasefire that was declared as usual was a tactical maneuver, government spokesman Patrick Muyaya tells the news agency.
The rebels, together with Rwandan government forces, are said to have captured the mining town of Nyabibwe, which is located ten kilometers from the South Kivu provincial capital Bukavu. The fighting on Wednesday morning was fierce, witnesses told the news agency.

Organization: 136,000 babies will be affected by HIV
Donald Trump's decision to stop American foreign aid has created panic among aid workers in African countries, writes AFP.
Among other things, PEPFAR, which is the US aid program to reduce HIV, is being stopped for 90 days. The program supports over 20 million HIV patients and currently provides treatment to nearly 680,000 pregnant women with the disease, writes the news agency.
The lack of support will have serious consequences, the AIDS research organization Amfar assesses.
"During the 90-day moratorium, we estimate that 135,987 babies will be infected with HIV," Amfar writes in an analysis.
