Zelensky: Four parties required for peace talks
Volodymyr Zelensky is ready for direct talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin to end the war, which has been going on for almost three years. The Ukrainian president himself said this in an interview with British journalist Piers Morgan.
– If that is the only possible way to create peace for the Ukrainian people and not lose people, then that is what we should focus on, Zelensky said in the interview according to Reuters.
However, he added that the negotiations would in that case take place with four participants, without specifying who the other two would be. The news agency notes, however, that Piers Morgan had earlier during the conversation speculated about both the EU and the US as potential negotiating parties.
Putin stated last week that Moscow would talk with Ukraine, but ruled out talking directly with Zelensky, writes AFP.
Sources: Trump’s Ukraine Peace Plan Expected Next Week
US allies expect the Trump administration to present a peace plan for the war in Ukraine at the Munich Security Conference next week, Bloomberg reported, citing sources.
Statements by Donald Trump’s special envoy for Ukraine, Keith Kellogg, and other supporters in recent weeks have suggested that the plan is based on what they call “peace through strength.”
The sources themselves would not go into any details about how extensive the discussions are expected to be or what form they will take.
