Saab: "The business does not affect the year – but the future"
Defense giant Saab must increase capacity to meet demand, CEO Micael Johansson tells Corren in connection with the interim report. Peru is evaluating 24 Gripen planes and Saab is negotiating with Colombia and Thailand – the situation looks positive, according to Johansson.
The Global Eye radar and reconnaissance system is also attracting interest abroad.
- There is interest from several countries in Europe and Asia. Global Eye has a good position in the market and there is not much competition in that particular market, he tells the local newspaper.
Saab aims to complete the orders this year, but they do not "affect this year's sales that much", he tells Bloomberg.
- But they are really important for the future, he tells the news agency.
SKF cuts 1,700 jobs in Europe – Sweden is affected
SKF is streamlining its organization by reducing the number of jobs. This is evident from the interim report.
The ball bearing company is separating the automotive operations, which results in a gross reduction of approximately 1,700 jobs. This mainly concerns white-collar workers in Europe. After rehiring in connection with the company's "strategic restructuring", the net reduction will be approximately 1,200 jobs.
- These measures are difficult, but necessary to take to secure our future competitiveness, says CEO Rickard Gustafson in the interim report.
The savings are estimated to amount to approximately SEK 2 billion. The entire annual savings rate is expected to be achieved in 2027, with a "relatively linear rate between 2026 and 2027".
The Swedish operations will also be affected.
- But we hope to be able to handle a lot of natural departures and early retirements, Gustafson tells TT.

New fee makes travel to the US more expensive
People who want to visit the US will have to pay a "privacy fee" for a visa of $250, equivalent to about 2,400 Swedish kronor, to enter the country. This is clear from Donald Trump's budget, reports CNBC.
The fee is mandatory and will be applied to all visitors who need a so-called "non-immigrant visa". According to the proposal in the budget, however, there will be a possibility to have the fee refunded.
The "privacy fee" does not replace the already existing fee for applying for a visa. Visitors will therefore have to pay a total of about $455 to travel to the US.
