Kim Keon Hee apologizes: “Caused concern”

Kim Keon Hee, who was arrested on Tuesday on suspicion of several crimes, apologized in connection with a court hearing last week. Kim Keon Hee, wife of ousted South Korean President Yoon Suk-Yeol, apologized for “causing concern among the people” but emphasized that she is “insignificant,” several media outlets report.

Kim Keon Hee denies the charges of bribery, stock manipulation and election interference, but has not commented on Tuesday’s arrest decision.

It is the first time in the country’s history that a first lady has been arrested on suspicion of a crime.

US: Has seized several billions from Maduro

The US has seized assets worth more than $6.6 billion belonging to Venezuela’s socialist President Nicolás Maduro. This is what Attorney General Pam Bondi said in an interview with Fox News, five days after the United States promised $50 million to anyone who provides information that could lead to Maduro's arrest.

The assets include airplanes, luxury cars and houses. The Justice Department accuses the president of collaborating with drug cartels and calls him one of the largest drug traffickers in the world.

In the new interview, Bondi compares Maduro's actions to the mafia.

20 dead after boat accident off Italy

At least 20 people have died after a migrant boat capsized off the Italian island of Lampedusa, the UN said, according to several news agencies.

60 survivors have come ashore, but a dozen are still missing, according to the UN refugee agency UNHCR.

According to testimonies from survivors, there were between 92 and 97 migrants on board when the boat left Libya.
