Concerns over spy drones spread in Thailand

The border with Cambodia has been calm since at least mid-Saturday, but now the Thai military is increasingly concerned about spying with drones, several Thai media reports.

Reports of unidentified drones over Thailand have increased sharply since the armed conflict with neighboring Cambodia broke out in July, according to the military. They have not decreased since the ceasefire began.

The military has urged the population to report any drone sightings, and has ordered regional leaders to install drone defenses around facilities that could be of interest to the country's enemies.

- No matter who is releasing these drones, they will be dealt with forcefully, says General Boonsin Padklang, according to Thai PBS.

Embassy: False rumors – Gripen has not been stopped

There are false rumors spreading that Sweden has stopped the sale of the Jas Gripen fighter jet to Thailand, the Swedish embassy writes on Facebook.

The Cambodian newspaper Phnom Penh Post, which according to Amnesty, among others, is very loyal to the country's government, was the first to spread the information. It has since been picked up by a number of Thai media.

Swedish Gripen planes were used in July in Thai attacks on targets in Cambodia. This is believed to be the first time the plane has been used in combat. 

Cambodia: Thailand plans new attacks

Thailand is planning attacks along the border with Cambodia. This is what the Cambodian Ministry of Defense writes on Telegram according to TT.

The ministry refers to sources who state that Thailand has urged residents of the border province of Surin to leave the area by Monday night at the latest.

"The same sources also confirm that the Thai military is planning to launch attacks along the border. These attacks are expected to begin shortly," they continue.

Thailand accused Cambodia on Wednesday of violating the ceasefire that the countries signed on July 28.
