Democrats Say No to Harris's Services
Kamala Harris has taken a break from politics. This is welcomed by several strategists and party activists in the Democrats, reports Politico.
The site has spoken to more than twenty officials who believe that the party needs a new candidate for the 2028 presidential election. Several are also skeptical about letting her have a prominent position in next year's midterm elections. They point out that many Democrats at the congressional and local levels did better than Harris in the last election.
A party strategist in California says that Harris is so closely associated with Joe Biden that she is not a draw for Democratic voters.
- I would not want her in my district, says the source.
However, opinion polls show that Harris is the most popular candidate when people are asked which Democrat should run in the next presidential election.
Harris Dismisses 2028 Campaign: "Broken System"
Kamala Harris thinks the US political system is "broken" and she is therefore not aiming for the presidency in 2028, she tells Stephen Colbert on "The Late Show", in her first interview since losing the election in November, Deadline reports.
- I don't want, at least for now, to get back into that system, she says.
The appearance comes after Harris chose not to run for governor in her home state of California, which according to The Hill has sparked speculation about a presidential campaign in 2028.
At the same time, the former vice president is to release a memoir about the days surrounding the 2024 election, writes Variety.
