Children drink salt water – acute fuel shortage
The water shortage in Gaza is worsening as Israel’s military offensive expands, reports the BBC. Desalination and purification plants are running out of fuel.
The UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs says that the plants could be forced to close completely before the end of the week unless fuel is delivered immediately.
Israel has begun allowing trucks with basic supplies into Gaza. Some drinking water is among the cargo, but no fuel, according to the BBC. The aid has not yet been distributed.
Parents tell the British television station that during the war their children have become accustomed to drinking a mixture of salt water and fresh water.
– We have had stomachaches and diarrhea, but we are enduring. What can we do? We have to drink. There is no alternative, says father of four Raed al-Zaharneh in Khan Yunis.

New evacuation order in Gaza: “Full force”
The Israeli army, IDF, has issued an evacuation order for 14 areas in northern Gaza, reports AFP.
Parts of the cities of Jabalia and Beit Lahia are affected, among other things.
The call is one in a series of evacuation orders in recent days, as Israel steps up its offensive in the area.
An IDF spokesman writes on X that they are now increasing their presence to “full force” in the areas, which they say should be considered “dangerous combat zones”.

29 children reportedly died of starvation in recent days
At least 29 children have died of starvation-related causes in Gaza in recent days, Palestinian Health Minister Majed Abu Ramadan said, according to Reuters.
He also received questions from reporters about the high-profile statement from a UN spokesperson the other day: that 14,000 children are at risk of dying from acute malnutrition in the coming year if emergency aid does not reach them.
– 14,000 is a very realistic figure and may even be an understatement, he said, according to the news agency.
At the same time, Israel has issued evacuation orders in 14 areas in the northern parts of Gaza, writes TT. The military writes on X that it is acting with “full force” because “terrorist organizations continue their activities there”.
