Several hit by SUV in Germany – man arrested

A car has crashed into a crowd in Stuttgart, Germany, German media reports.
At least eight people are reported to be injured, three of them seriously.
A 46-year-old woman has died, police say.

The injured people have been taken to hospital, police tell Bild.
The collision is said to have occurred at a tram stop in the central parts of the city at 17.50 on Friday afternoon.
Police tell German DW that the driver of the car, a Mercedes SUV, has been arrested.
He is a 42-year-old man.
The area has been cordoned off and police are urging the public to stay away.
Traffic is also affected.
On X, the Stuttgart police write that they are initially investigating it as a "tragic traffic accident" and that there is no evidence that the driver deliberately hit the people.
