Satellite images: Iran hit communications dome

Iran's attack on the US military base Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar likely hit a communications building, writes AP, which analyzed satellite images from Planet Labs PBC.

Images taken shortly after the attack on June 23 show damage to a so-called geodesic dome, where, according to the news agency, there was American equipment for secure communications. The dome is visible in images before the attack, and after June 25, the building is completely gone from the satellite images.

The attack was a response to the US bombing of nuclear targets in Iran, and so far it has not been known what damage it had. No people were injured, as the military base (which is the largest in the Middle East) was evacuated beforehand.

EU regrets US sanctions on UN rapporteur

The EU regrets that the US has imposed sanctions on Francesca Albanese, the UN special rapporteur on the occupied Palestinian territories. This is reported by AFP.

Albanese, who has been a vocal critic of Israel's warfare, tells the AP that she is shocked by the US sanctions against her.

- This is not a sign of power, it is a sign of guilt, she says.

The US Secretary of State has accused her of anti-Semitism and said that she has made "shameful attempts" to put American and Israeli officials on trial at the International Criminal Court (ICC).

What sanctions have been targeted at her is unclear.

798 People Killed While Trying to Get Food

At least 798 people have been killed while trying to get food in Gaza since the end of May, according to the UN human rights agency OHCHR. This is reported by Reuters.

According to a spokesperson, 615 of these have been killed in connection with food distribution by the organization GHF, Gaza Humanitarian Foundation, since May 27, when the organization began operating in Gaza.

The figure is in line with what Gaza's Ministry of Health, which is part of the Hamas government, has previously stated. The statistics are regularly updated with detailed information from medical personnel, but do not distinguish between combatants and civilians.

The Israeli military has not commented on the death toll from the UN.

Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF) – the case in point

• The Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF), supported by Israel and the US, has been responsible for food distribution in southern Gaza since the end of May 2025.
• The UN and humanitarian organizations have criticized the GHF for a lack of neutrality and for being run without Palestinian involvement.
• Several deadly incidents have occurred at GHF distribution sites, where Israeli forces have fired on people seeking emergency aid.
• The Israel Defense Forces have denied firing on civilians at GHF centers, while numerous witness accounts indicate the opposite.
