Denmark: Ukraine belongs in the EU – we will do everything we can

Denmark will do everything in its power to ensure that Ukraine becomes part of the EU. This is what Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen says in connection with the country formally taking over the presidency of the EU on Thursday.

– Ukraine belongs in the European Union. It is in the interest of both Denmark and Europe.

Putin to Trump: Our goals in Ukraine are firm

Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin spoke for about an hour on Thursday afternoon, the Kremlin said according to Reuters.

The conversation reportedly dealt with the situation in Iran before Trump "again" said that he wanted a quick end to the war in Ukraine, says Kremlin advisor Yuri Ushakov. Putin responded that Russia is ready to continue negotiations, but that Moscow is still focused on eliminating what it calls the “root causes” of the conflict.

According to the Financial Times, Trump is to speak with Volodymyr Zelensky on Friday. During that conversation, the presidents are expected to discuss the US’s suspended arms deliveries to Ukraine.

The US has suspended its deliveries of, among other things, anti-aircraft missiles because the Pentagon fears that their stock is running low, according to Reuters.
