Trump continues to pressure the Fed – calls on governor to resign
Donald Trump calls on Fed chief Lisa Cook to resign, Bloomberg and Reuters report.
Trump refers on Truth Social to a statement from the head of the US Housing Finance Agency (FHFA), who has urged the Justice Department to investigate Cook for mortgage fraud.
Cook has not responded to the allegations. FHFA head Bill Pulte is described as a close Trump ally. He has previously urged Congress to investigate Fed Chairman Jerome Powell.
Trump has repeatedly accused the Fed of not lowering interest rates.

Sources: Musk chooses Vance instead of his own party
Tesla billionaire Elon Musk has shelved plans to start a new party, sources with insight told the Wall Street Journal. In private conversations, he has said he wants to focus on his companies.
Musk announced in July that he intended to start an “America party” to break up the two-party dominance in the US. But according to sources, he backed down for fear of alienating powerful Republicans.
Instead, Musk is said to have made an effort to maintain strong ties with Vice President JD Vance, who is seen as Donald Trump’s possible successor. In private conversations, Musk has promised to support Vance financially in the 2028 election campaign.
Embassy guard in Norway sold information to Russia
A former security guard at the US embassy in Oslo is charged with selling information to Russia and Iran. According to Aftenposten, he is said to have sold contact information to embassy families, schedules for embassy visits and images of communication equipment, among other things.
The man, who is in his 20s, received just over 110,000 Swedish kronor from Russia. From Iran, he received 0.17 bitcoin, equivalent to around 185,000 kronor.
The trial begins on Wednesday. His lawyer states that the man admits the facts but denies any wrongdoing.
